Carey O. Randall Associate Publisher, Administration (Chief Financial Officer) Smithsonian Magazine (Retired)
Carey was the Founding President and Member of the Board of Directors of the 16th Ronald McDonald House to open, in Washington, D.C. in 1980. Her invitation to Barbara Bush to serve on the Board led to Mrs. Bush’s longtime involvement with the Global RMHC program. Carey’s passion and commitment to Ronald McDonald House Charities continues as her principal charitable interest. She has served on the Board of RMHC SW FL since 2002, currently as President, chairs the Audit & Governance Committees and actively participates on the Finance, Marketing, and Storybook Ball committees.
Additional community involvement activities in the Washington metropolitan area have included the presidency of Candlelighters; board member of Calvert Hospice, the Calvert Marine Museum (serving as secretary, chair of the Development Committee, Fundraising Ball, and member of the Finance Committee); and Treasurer, Children’s Theatre of Arlington, as well as leadership roles in her local church.
After graduation from the American Community School in Beirut, Lebanon and attending Bennington College, Carey was a founding member of the Smithsonian magazine staff, retiring as Associate Publisher, Administration, and serving in the same position with Air & Space/Smithsonian Magazine.
