Richard B. Akin

Collier Health Services, Inc. 

Richard Akin is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Collier Health Services, Inc.  He is a graduate of Florida State University and the University of Miami.  Before coming to Collier Health Services, Inc. in 1980, Mr. Akin worked for the Centers for Disease Control.

Mr. Akin’s passion for bringing health care to the medically uninsured and underserved is evident through his involvement with health care legislation in Tallahassee and with several state health care organizations.  

Mr. Akin has served two terms as Chairman of the Florida Association of Community Health Centers, and he currently serves on the board of the Everglades Area Health Education Center. 

Mr. Akin is also an active member in the National Rural Health Association, the National Association of Health Centers, the Medical Group Management Association, and the Migrant Clinician’s Network.

Mr. Akin is an elected member of the Lee Memorial Health System Board of Directors and currently serves as Chairman.
