Dear Friends,
Our mission is to create, find and support programs that directly improve the health and well being of children in the five county region we serve. With the generosity of our community, the efforts of our volunteers, staff and local McDonald’s restaurant owner operators, we are meeting that mission through our four Programs. The Ronald McDonald Care Mobile® Program provided dental and other services to 1,950 children, the House Program provided lodging to 125 families for a total of 1,600 nights, the Grants Program awarded a total of $75,000 to 13 children’s charities, six FGCU students received scholarships of $1,000 each and the new Scholarship Program committed to provide 13 scholarships of $1,000 each to high school students graduating in 2009. Our ability to fund these programs results in large measure from the leveraging of our resources. The tireless Care Mobile Advisory Committee raised almost 90% of the money required for that Program. Our Global Ronald McDonald House® Charities parent contributed $25,000 toward the Grants Program and $5,000 toward the Scholarship Program. The State of Florida contributed $3,000 to the FGCU Scholarships. And the contribution canisters in the McDonald’s restaurants, which receive the coins and dollars of their generous customers, accumulated a sufficient amount to fund the balance of the Care Mobile, Grants, and Scholarship Programs. We rely on fundraisers, general contributions, memorials, and in-kind contributions to fund the significant balance of money required to operate the House Program and to cover administrative expenses, supplies, and furnishings. The Storybook Ball, Golf Tournament, Fishing Tournament, and Rodeo, all of which receive the generous sponsorship of our McDonald’s owner-operators and their suppliers, account for a large portion of this balance. Special fundraising events such as the Norris Holiday Spectacular are vital to our financial requirements. And merchants such as City Furniture and Brand Source provide furniture, appliances, mattresses, and maintenance to keep the House comfortable and efficient for our families. To all of you who contribute so generously, rest assured that your contributions are used effectively and are very much appreciated by the families and children we serve. Sincerely, Carey Randall President, Board of Directors |
