Delivering Hope on Wheels
The Ronald McDonald Care Mobile® Program is a fleet of state-of-the-art vehicles that deliver cost-effective medical and dental care directly to underserved children in their own neighborhoods. In the U.S. alone, almost 12 million children are uninsured and unable to obtain access to proper health care. In 2007, the Care Mobile program saved families more than 10 million dollars in healthcare costs and on average, they serve 100,000 children in vulnerable populations each year. Nearly 60% of children seen on Ronald McDonald Care Mobiles do not have health insurance.
Through a partnership with CHS Healthcare, our Ronald McDonald Care Mobile provides dental/medical screenings and subsequent care to underserved children in Collier County, where the program has been operating with great success since November of 2004. By the end of 2008 The Care Mobile had provided services to over 10,000 Collier County children. In 2009, with an additional partnership, The Ronald McDonald Care Mobile and The Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida will begin Autism screenings for pre-school children.
