Our Story: A Haven from the Hospital

Ronald McDonald House^® of Southwest Florida provides a home-away-from-home for families of Charlotte, Collier, Glades, Hendry, Lee counties and beyond who have seriously ill or injured children receiving medical treatment at The Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida.  The Ronald McDonald House enables loved ones to remain together as a family in an environment of comfort, compassion, strength, and support. Our 24/7 facility has private bedroom suites with bath, fully stocked kitchen, dining room, living room, activities room, computer station and laundry room.  

In 2007 we began offering a Day Pass program for families on our waiting list and those who wish to reside in their child’s hospital room.  The Day Pass program is available Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Day Pass participants may relax in our common areas, shower, do laundry and enjoy a meal.

We are conveniently located adjacent to The Children's Hospital of Southwest Florida on the Lee Memorial Health System’s  HealthPark campus  in South Fort Myers (off of Bass Road).  We are staffed with a full time Executive Director, Administrative Manager, Programs Coordinator and House Manager. A Weekend Manager serves from 5:00 pm each Friday through 5:00 pm Sunday. We also have an ever-growing army of amazing volunteers.

Families are asked for a modest donation of $10 per day to cover a small portion of the actual cost of the stay. However, no one is ever turned away because of an inability to pay.  Please take a look at the many ways you may support us including our Wish List, Share-a-Night, and Family Meal Program.
