April 7 is World Health Day!

Baby holding parent's fingerOn World Health Day, we celebrate the essential collaboration between our incredible hospital partner, Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida and Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southwest Florida.

This vital partnership allows for “family-centered care.” RMHC® Global says, “Family-centered care is an approach to health care that is viewed as critically important in providing health care to children, especially those with serious medical conditions. In the family-centered care of children, the patient’s family members are fully involved with health care providers to make informed decisions about the health care and support services the child and family receive.”

The Ronald McDonald House® and Ronald McDonald Family Room® programs are specifically designed to provide families with essential rest and support while remaining near their hospitalized child. The House is only a short walk from the hospital, and the Family Room is on the 2nd floor of the hospital. With this immediate access to our programs, Golisano and RMHC SWFL maximize efforts to ensure the families and children are right where they need to be: together.

“The Ronald McDonald Family Room provides a place of respite and distraction within the hospital for families,” said Alyssa Bostwick, VP of Operations & Chief Nurse Executive at Golisano Children’s Hospital. This collaboration helps us keep families close to their child while undergoing treatment. We’re proud to partner with The Ronald McDonald House to provide this resource to our community.”

Thank you for your partnership!
