Our Relationship with McDonald’s
Ronald McDonald House Charities® (RMHC) has been McDonald’s “charity of choice” since the beginning of this non-profit 501(c)3 corporation. Portions of the annual operating costs for our House are graciously funded by our local McDonald’s owner/operators through canister collections, in-restaurant promotions, and store fundraisers. The remainder of our operating income comes from the generosity of individual and corporate donors in our community.
McDonald’s Corporation also owns the licensing rights to the Ronald McDonald House Charities name, but each RMHC chapter is individually owned and operated. Members of the McDonald’s family aid as volunteers on the Boards and committees of the local House. McDonald’s conducts an annual fundraising day in November called McHappy Day. Since 2002, it has raised over $150 million for RMHC and children’s charities around the world. McDonald’s donation boxes are the largest source of ongoing fundraising for Ronald McDonald House Charities®.
Ronald McDonald, a trusted friend to children around the world, who represents happiness, fun and a positive outlook on life is the namesake of the Charity because within our core programs is a safe haven filled with hope and love.
Although McDonald’s is our largest corporate donor, we still need the support of the entire community and greatly value any support you can afford, whether it’s through cash donations, your time or fundraising efforts. Our House is independently owned and operated by a volunteer board of directors. We rely heavily on donations from the public in order to serve our families.
